Heimat/Hiraeth

A German mother and a Welsh father. Both dragging a weight of difference, translation and loss. What did they engender? This offspring of a search for origin, a self muted by that earthiest of mother-tongues.

 

 

Ursprungsland. Home, homeland, origin. longing for the (m)other country. longing for something which might never have been, an origin that never was. A connection to earth (the land in my blood, in my bones), earth underfoot. Earth in your mouth.
